Tom began his advertising career early in 1961, the days of “hot metal type” and mad men, working as a copywriter at Campbell-Ewald. He later moved to Y&R where he became a vice president and creative director. He opened his own agency, CTS Marketing, in 1981 and closed it in 2010, retiring after close to 50 years in advertising. You can’t be in the business that long without racking up some successes. His work received nearly 100 local, national and international awards. His agency regularly took on pro bono clients focusing on children’s charities and Tom served on the Board of Directors of Boy’s & Girls Club, Ronald McDonald House of Detroit and the Michigan Council on Economic education. His agency qualified for membership in the AAAA (American Association of Advertising Agencies) and retained that membership for 18 years. Locally, he served three terms on the communications committee of the Detroit Athletic Club and currently holds a lifetime membership in the Adcraft Club of Detroit. Despite these successes, he failed retirement. In 2016 the man who started in a world of hot metal type transitioned to VR /AR and AI serving as Vice President and CMO at LivePicture. His blogs draw on a combination of deep experienced and new discoveries.
